Example #1
In this picture there are a total of 8 windows.
Windows 1- 4 are fixed casements requiring interior and exterior ladder work.
Windows 5 - 8 are double hung with “1 pane over 1 pane” per window.
Example #2
In this picture there are a total of 7 windows.
Windows 1, 2, 4 & 5 are double hung. Each window has “6 panes over 6 panes” or a total of 12 panes per window.
Windows 1 & 2 will require 2nd story ladder work.
Window 3 - When quoting, we will include any doors with glass as part of your “total window count.” Your doors deserve to be crystal clear too!
Windows 6 & 7 are sliding glass doors. These are counted individually due to the large surface area of glass.
Example #3
This window highlights the “mullions” that separate glass into individual panes.
The window is double hung with “8 panes over 12 panes.”
In this example, the mullions are located on both sides of the glass (The interior and exterior of the home).
Mullions can also be located in between the two panes creating the illusion of a paned window.
If you’re not sure your mullions are located in between or outside of the panes, run your hand over the window. Do you feel the mullions?
If YES, mullions are located on the outside of the panes.
If NO, the mullions are located in between the two glass panes.
Mullion Exceptions:
Mullions may also be located on the exterior of the home, but not on the interior.
Sometimes, mullions can also be removable! We can remove the mullions during a clean and replace them when we are done.

Windows 1/5, 2/6, 3/7, 4/8, etc. - As these windows are situated on top of one another and side by side you may want to count them as one window, but these are each individual windows. These windows require 2nd & 3rd story ladder work on the exterior.
